This Cookie Policy explains how the Nylex Shoes website uses cookies and similar browser storage, what each item does and how you can control it.
1. Introduction
At Nylex Shoes we keep our website simple and respectful of your privacy. We use only a small number of browser storage items, all set by our own website, to make the site work the way you expect. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.
This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains more generally how we handle personal data in line with the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017 and, for visitors from the European Union, the GDPR.
2. What are cookies and local storage?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your computer, phone or tablet when you visit it. They are sent back to the website each time you return, which lets the site remember information such as your preferences.
Local storage is a similar technology built into modern web browsers. It allows a website to save small pieces of information in your browser. Unlike cookies, information in local storage is not automatically sent to the website's server with every page request; it stays on your device and is read by the page itself when needed. Local storage items do not expire on their own, but you can delete them at any time.
Cookies and local storage can be:
- first-party, set by the website you are visiting, or third-party, set by another company whose content appears on the site;
- strictly necessary, needed for the site to work or to remember a choice you have made, or optional, such as analytics or advertising, which normally require your consent.
In this policy we use the word "cookies" loosely to cover both cookies and local storage, because data protection rules treat them in a similar way.
3. What we use
Our website currently uses the following first-party local storage items. None of them contains your name, email address or payment details, and none is shared with third parties.

Your wishlist is kept only in the browser you used to create it. It is not sent to us and we cannot see it. That also means it will not appear on a different device or browser, and it will be lost if you clear your browser data. If you would like us to reserve or order items on your wishlist, simply send us an enquiry through our contact page.
Server logs
Separately from cookies, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information, such as IP address and browser type, when pages are requested. This is standard for all websites and is used for security and troubleshooting. It is described in our Privacy Policy.
Embedded content
Some pages may include content from other services, such as an embedded map showing our Port Louis showroom. If you interact with such content, the provider may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. Where possible, we load such content only when needed.
4. No advertising or tracking cookies
We want to be clear about what we do not do:
- We do not use advertising cookies or retargeting pixels.
- We do not use social media tracking tools that follow you around other websites.
- We do not sell or share browsing information with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not build advertising profiles about our visitors.
Possible future analytics
We may, in future, decide to use a privacy-friendly analytics tool to understand how many people visit our website and which pages are most useful, so we can improve it. If we do, we will choose a tool designed to minimise the collection of personal data, we will update this policy and the table above before it is switched on, and where the law requires it we will only activate it after you have given consent through our cookie banner.
5. Your choices and our cookie banner
When you first visit our website, a banner asks you to accept or decline optional storage. Your choice is saved in nylex_cookie_consent. Because the wishlist and newsletter items are only created when you use those features, you remain in control: if you do not save products or interact with the newsletter prompt, those items are not created.
To change your choice, you can clear your browser's storage for our website (see below). The banner will appear again on your next visit and you can make a new choice.
6. How to manage and delete cookies and local storage
You can view, block or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Clearing "cookies and site data" normally removes local storage too. Please note that if you block or delete them, your wishlist will be lost and the cookie banner will appear again.
Google Chrome
- Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and choose Settings.
- Go to Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies or Site settings, and select See all site data and permissions.
- Search for "nylexshoes.com" and click the bin icon to delete its data.
- Alternatively, while on our site, click the icon to the left of the web address, choose Site settings and then Delete data.
Safari (Mac, iPhone and iPad)
- On a Mac, open Safari, choose Safari > Settings (or Preferences), then the Privacy tab.
- Click Manage Website Data, search for "nylexshoes", select it and click Remove.
- On iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app, tap Safari, then Advanced and Website Data. Swipe left on "nylexshoes.com" and tap Delete.
Mozilla Firefox
- Click the menu button (three lines) and choose Settings.
- Select Privacy & Security and scroll to Cookies and Site Data.
- Click Manage Data, search for "nylexshoes", select it and click Remove Selected, then Save Changes.
Microsoft Edge
- Click the three-dot menu and choose Settings.
- Select Cookies and site permissions, then Manage and delete cookies and site data, then See all cookies and site data.
- Search for "nylexshoes.com" and click the bin icon to remove its data.
Other browsers and private browsing
Most other browsers offer similar options in their settings or help pages. If you browse in private or incognito mode, local storage is usually deleted automatically when you close the window, so your wishlist and consent choice will not be kept between visits.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy if we add new features to our website, begin using analytics, change the way existing items work or if the law changes. The "last updated" date at the top of this page tells you when it was last revised. If we make a significant change, such as introducing any optional storage that requires consent, we will ask for your consent again through the cookie banner.
